I never thought I would ever see the day in which Sean Penn is recast with Sean Hayes of "Will & Grace" in anything, and I never thought I would look at such an event and be glad that it happened, but when it comes to a film like this, between Harvey Milk and Jack McFarland, I'm gonna stick with the latter gay icon, though not as I'm sticking with the recast of Benicio del Toro with Chris Diamantopoulos, because, come on, no matter what the liberals may say, do you really want to see a Mexican Moe Howard, or rather, a "Moexican" (Nyuk-nyuk-nyuk)? Jeez, all of these serious actors were offered the chance to be Stooges, and all the while, they're switching out Idris Elba with Tyler Perry for the role of Alex Cross, which is why I reckon the Farrelly brothers were aiming at getting Jim Carrey as Curly for real comic relief, and even then, Carrey is such a committed actor that he gained 40 pounds to play Curly Howard.

Their facial expressions, movements, and line delivery successfully brings out the personalities of the Stooges.The Three Stooges will definitely divide the audience, but fans of the original series will get the most out of this. At times, this picture successfully does that, but at others it is awkward and out of place.Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes, and Will Sasso deliver good performances. The biggest challenge is finding a way to work this comedy into modern times. With that said, the story does take a back seat to the antics of the Stooges.The slapstick humor and sound effects stay true to how the Stooges should behave and it is all delivered at rapid fire pace for most of the film. The story is also told in episodes, which is broken up quite nicely and laced with the original theme song.
I way prefer something like PG13 Harry Potter for my kids compared to junk like this.Bobby and Peter Farrelly bring old style slapstick comedy to modern days with The Three Stooges.The story is simple and requires less than 90 minutes to tell. Boys and girls both get improper views of the opposite sex with some of this content that gets put in PG movies that does not contribute anything to it.Īt least don't put this stuff in movies that are not marketed as such. Research says that even younger teens should not be exposed to this type of sexualization of women. But I am still just so surprised at the choices of plots for what we expected to be the corny 3 Stooges.

Overall the movie was kind of funny and okay and not the worst ever. I was offended by that and thought that crossed the line. I expect this stuff in other movies but I just really didn't expect it in this movie.Īnd the final straw was the Nun in a sexy/skimpy swimsuit with her chest busting out. And for much of the movie the actress has her chest shoved up and in sexy outfit, and shots like the rat going in her chest.
Our kids are not stupid and clearly pick up on that even if it isn't explained in detail. They may make it comical but they couldn't come up with a more family friendly plot for the Three Stooges than that?įor a PG movie I didn't expect infidelity and murder for hire in the movie even if it is a joke.
A large part of the plot is a woman wanting them to kill her husband (implied that she is with this other man) for money. I was VERY disappointed in a few of the scenes of this movie.
